How do your fueling customers behave?

This annual NACS study contains helpful insights into how consumers have changed since 2009. The study looks at what attracts customers to your gas pumps and into your convenience store. Some key findings:

  • price at the gas pump is important, but almost half of fueling consumers rank 4 other items as important.
  • 68% of gas consumers have taken advantage of gas price discounts for loyalty cards, cash, a branded credit card or in-store offer such as car wash or QSR food item.
  • of consumers buying QSR food such as sandwiches, 36% say a strong in-store offer is important.

The annual ‘How consumers behave at the pump?’ survey looks at how consumers behave at the gas pump, provides insights into what retailers can do to change consumer behavior, and information about consumer driving and fueling habits. The 2017 survey is based on over 1100 interviews with adult American consumers.
