Do You Know Your EMV Dates?

The shift to EMV as the new standard in America has been ramping up for a couple years now, and as we approach the dates of the liability shift, it's useful to know when the changes will be taking place. Verifone Systems has put together a simple and informative chart to help you clearly see the important dates related to EMV. Click here to see it. Some of the more important dates to remember are:

  • October 2015 - All major credit card brands will be instituting a Fraud Liability Shift (within North America). The Shift means that fraud liability will shift to C-store owners in the case of in store POS transactions
  • October 2017 - The same Fraud Liability Shift will now be in effect for fuel dispensers as well.
